Though you travel the world seeking redemption,
And the key is in the seeking,
We were both amazed where you found it
Not in the grand and glorious acts that the world
Is attributing to you more readily,
But in the small gestures of gentleness you show in rare moments.
The stands you take for the greater good are noble
And worthwhile and tremendous
But I rather like the quiet moments between us
When we hope the world is not watching.
It is only then that your walls inch down
And I creep into the warm folds of your heart and know
The truth.
We are one heart and one destiny; two halves of the same soul.
And though you are the warrior, noble and proud
I am glad your heart belongs to me and mine to you.
