It should be Lucy Lawless Fan Club, 8516 S. 1000 West, Pendleton, IN 46064. EXCERPT: ...Q: I'm 15 and have been a Xena fan for a long time. I've tried desperately to find her address so I could write her. She got injured and I got worried. L.S./Franklin A: Yeah, Lawless had her horse fall on her and fractured her pelvis while taping a skit for Jay Leno and the Tonight show. Try reaching her in care of the Lucy Lawless Fan Club, P.O. "'Herc,' 'Xena': Not to Be Mythed" By David Bianculli COMMENTARY: This was Mr. Bianculli's sophomore experience in writing about XWP. His freshman effort also appeared in the Daily News, [XMR234] 04-14-96, titled "Way out There in TV Land". In XMR234, Mr. Bianculli casually referred XWP in his paean to the joys of watching "fringe" tv shows. He referred to XWP as a "still-embryonic cult hit" and a "not-so-guilty pleasure". In his sophomore article, he upgrades XWP from "guilty pleasure" to "pleasures, pure and simple." Mr. Bianculli wrote that aside from the fact that the "scripts are inventive, the action sequences are playful and ambitious (owing a lot to action movies from Hong Kong and Japan), the special effects and camera work are witty and clever, and the leading players Kevin Sorbo as Hercules and Lucy Lawless as Xena strike just the right mixture of derring-do heroism and anachronistic sassiness...." what has really pushed these two series "onto a higher plane of TV camp is that Hercules and Xena are tapping heavily into the history and characters established in previous seasons." After discussing the Cynthia Rothrock episode of HTLJ, he ended giving a short synopsis of XWP's RETURN OF CALLISTO, and calling Callisto his "favorite villain from either series". He concluded, "If you watch these shows this weekend, you're bound and helpless as well bound to enjoy them, and helpless to submit." [ a] 10-31-96 THE ASSOCIATED PRESS. Thursday. Domestic News. 688 words. 'People in the News" COMMENTARY: Lucy Lawless' appearance on Jay Leno's show was acknowledged. Her entrance was described ("she was carried to Jay Leno's stage by two musclemen in loincloths"); a quick blurb about her injury was given; and Ms. Lawless was quoted as saying, "I fractured some bones, but I'm on the mend, well and truly." "The Circuit" COMMENTARY: In a summary of things to do on Tuesday (like, for instance...VOTE!), the anonymous writer added, "Party faithfuls gather at watering holes around town (Capitol Hill bars will likely be especially crowded) to watch election returns and celebrate (or commiserate, depending). If that doesn't float your boat then perhaps stay in and watch Hercules and Xena on TV."
