Piper Down

the music:

1- Dangerous Mimes: Cry of universal longing for the return of innocence in a society suffering the effects of dire dehumanization. Plus, it rocks.

2- Raymond's Lament: Endearing dirge, building from a mid 80's English rock ballad to a climatic jam, and back again; a powerful and poignant requiem for friends come and gone. Plus, it rocks.

press:

Original alternative rock infused with invigorating melodies, upbeat rhythms, thought provoking lyrics, chilling harmonies, and the humor and angst of the early breed of Generation X. Their music reflects their influences, an amalgamation of classic rock (Pink Floyd, Rush, The Doors, Van Halen), 80's

Where the eighties should have gone and where the nineties ought to stay

new wave (The Housemartins, Devo, The Smiths, Joy Division, Klaatu), Saturday morning cartoons, jazz, techno, and the nearly forgotten musings of the Seattle flannel bands. The result is a varied musical experience described by the band's fans as, "where the eighties should have gone and where the nineties ought to stay."

Mark Middlemas - 24, Guitars, harmonica, vocals, goatee, and bachelor degrees in Political Science and Film Studies, quickly becoming a N64 addict
Greg Whitehead (gumby@icentral.com) - 24, Keyboards and Pianos, vocals, new goatee and a degree in Computer Science
Jason Copley- 24, Drums, law boy
Matthew Klenk- 19, Bass guitar, vocals, disco king, and weasel (currently serving two years in Toronto); Matt can be interchanged with
Craig Middlemas-, 19, Bass Guitar, who is also about to serve a mission in Yekaterinburg, Russia (Sverdlovsk...Yeltsin's birthplace...woo hoo)

plans:

A CD is in the works. We are currently re-tracking the first tune and another to help negotiate a few deals. The songs are catchy and intelligent, suitable for radio top 40 or eclectic album rock. Most are designed to be danceable, but a few just make you want to sit back, listen, and even think. Marketable on many levels, Piper Down appeals to wide audience and would play well on many radio formats. The band's sense of humor, energetic live performances, and Dave Pack's personal charm make the band a fun and memorable live experience. We would like to arrange a tour. For booking information call Mark Middlemas at 801-424-1300 or Jason Copley at 801-598-3550. And remember to....
