My Conquest

I step up and straighten my shoulders, intent to fight this battle with my head held high, though my self-confidence is low. But I would never admit it to anyone how little faith I have in myself.

Except her...

My eyes search...

She looks up at me and I see a look that I know is mine and mine alone.

What do I see?

I see encouragement, warmth, caring, tenderness...

I see her gem colored eyes shining as they caress me with unmistakable, unconditional love.

When she looks at me like that I feel I can conquer the world. I am invincible and can beat any foe.

She instills that in me with her adoring gaze.

At first I thought it couldn’t be, now I know how wrong I was. I take that feeling and tuck it deep into my heart as her love washes over me, heartening me, sending me into this battle I have chosen to fight.

And so, as I look into her proud shining eyes, I clear my throat and step further out onto the stage to begin my conquest...of a warrior’s heart.

"I sing a song of love untold..."
