DON'T WHISPER A SCREAM

Callisto stood laughing in her crazy way as she looked at Gabrielle and Xena hanging from their crosses. She knew they were both dead. The devil in flames stood before her, he slaps her to the ground. They both fade away and go back to hell.

DEVIL: I told you... CALL: I know! (Smiles) I don't care!

Caesar fell before Callisto's feet.

CALL: Hello lover. (Giggles) See what good he'll do you now that he's dead too. (Laughs) CAESAR: You bitch! DEVIL: Since you like each other so much, roast together!

The devil sends Callisto and Caesar in a pit of coals.

Caesar's body lies alone as his blood flows down the steps. Brutis walks up to Xena's body.

BRUTIS: I should of listened to you sooner, Xena.

Autolycus rushes in hearing about the reward and a few other things he got there only to see death. He ran up and knocked Brutis around.

AUTO: Roman slime! BRUTIS: No wait!

Before Autolycus could finsh beating Brutis, Joxer road in. He fell from his horse as he too saw nothing but death. His mouth fell open and his eyes disbelieving what he saw. Xena and his beloved Gabrielle's lifeless bodies on crosses. He let out a scream that seemed to echo forever. His face became a mask of sorrow and pain. He ignored Autolycus and Brutis, as he ran into Gabrielle's cross. The three men pushed her over the rest of the way. Autolycus and Brutis did the same for Xena. Joxer was too busy crying over Gabrielle's remains. All the sudden he looked up at the sky.

JOXER: No! Gods no! (Sobs) Take me instead!

As Joxer fell on top of Gabrielle Autolycus pulled the nails out of Xena's body. He picked her up and put her on an empty cart, he then too cried. Brutis pulled the nails out of Gabrielle's body. Joxer had fell into such a state of agony that he didn't even notice. In a flash of brite light Gabrielle and Xena laid in a green hill. They walked over to a clear river to get a drink. Both stopped when they saw their lives playing out before them in the still water. Xena saw her mother crying at one point. Gabrielle saw her family crying as well. Then they both say Autolycus and Joxer with their bodies. Xena heard Autolycus's deepest thoughts and Gabrielle heard Joxer's. The two women looked at each other and then looked back.

GABBY: He? XENA: Yes. (Pauses) And Autolycus loves me too. VOICE: It is not your time, go back!

Joxer was leaving a down pour of tears on Gabrielle's chest. Suddenly she could feel it and a small gasp came from her. Joxer believed he was going mad, as he felt her breathing. He looked up with his red eyes and saw her rasping for air. He picked her up and laided her next to Xena. Auto half smiled to know one of them was alive. He looked down at Xena again, his eyes grew bigger as Xena made a small painful cry. Joxer smiled and then laughed, Autolycus did the same. Brutis got on Joxers horse and took the rains of the carts horse. He took them as far as he could and left them there. Before too long the four of them were at the farm house where Gabrielle's folks were. Joxer had kept after their wrapings as best he could, but know this was the best place for them. Xena's back wasn't broken as they belived, but it wasn't in the best of shape either. She would heal slower than Gabrielle, but neither of them had come to. Joxer and Autolycus stayed with them in shifts. A day later as Autolycus was sleeping on the hay in the barn. Joxer was cleaning Xena's face with warm water. He bent over and kissed her forhead, then moved over to Gabrielle. As soon as the warm water hit her face, her eyes opened.

JOXER: Gab...Gabrielle?! (Laughing) Zeus! GABBY: J... JOXER: No don't try to talk, you're too weak.

Lila stood at the door way looking at Gabrielle and Joxer. She left, getting her mom and dad. Her mother came in with some broth. Gabrielle drank some of it.

JOXER: That's right eat it all up. LILA: Glad to have you back, Gab.

Gabrielle could feel all the love in the room, she could turn her head a little and saw Xena.

GABBY: Xe... JOXER: She's alive. (Pauses) She's not going to have an easy time, Gabby. Her back is pretty bad.

Gabrielle shut her eyes and when she opened them again tears rolled down her face. Joxer holds her and looks at Lila.

JOXER: Lila, go tell Auto?

Lila walks out with her mom, as Joxer just holds Gabrielle. Moments later Autolycus stands at the door way, he smiles at Joxer. He walks up to Xena and looks after her. Gabrielle tries to say something.

JOXER: No Gabby, please just stay quite.

Gabrielle gives Joxer the look and he laughs.

JOXER: There's the old Gabby I know.

Autolycus lifts Xena's eyelids, but her eyes are still. He cries and for once Gabrielle's eyes show pitty for the rogue. Joxer too feels sorry for him.

AUTO: Xena? (Sighs) If you can hear me, we want you back. (Cries) I want you back!

Xena moves her eyes, but is still afterwards.

JOXER: Sh... She moved her eyes! GABBY: Yes. (She said weakly) AUTO: Oh, Xena?! (Cries) Xena?

Soon Gabrielle was sitting up, leaning on Joxer. Xena moved her eyes again and gasped for air. Xena knew her back was in bad shape. She coughed, as Autolycus softly rubbed the back of his hand on her face.

AUTO: Those eyes are more beautiful then anything I've ever stolen. (Smiles) Or could ever hope to. Xena coughs weaky, but smiles back at Autolycus. JOXER: See Gabby? (Points to Xena) She smiled. GABBY: Mmm, hum.

Before the day was out Xena had drank some of the broth too. She couldn't feel her legs and she couldn't scream. Gabrielle laid back down and went to sleep. Joxer and Autolycus left the room, they ate slowly. Both of them knowing they had a long wait ahead of them. Both happy the women they loved were alive.
