Campfire Thoughts
The flames of the campfire steady and strong
Are keeping the darkness away.
Remember the evening when you came along
And asked for permission to stay?
As years had passed, I look into your eyes,
Astonished again by their light,
And wonder if you ever did realize
How much we both owe to that night.
The silver of moonlight surrounds your head,
Like mystical shimmering crown;
I wait for your smile, but you’re silent instead,
Sitting still, deep in thought, looking down.
And again as before, it’s so simple and strange,
I’m captured by smile that I see.
I love who you are, don’t you ever change,
I’m lucky you’re here with me.
It is getting late, soon the wind will begin
Its lullaby, rhythmic and deep.
Good night, Gabrielle, let most beautiful dream
Touch you soul and your heart as you sleep.
