An Evening Alone

by Sara Brill

Disclaimer #1: The characters Xena and Gabrielle are not mine, they belong to someone else, last I heard it was MCA/Universal, but anywho, I am just borrowing them to use in this outlet of creativity called a story.

Disclaimer #2: There are love scenes in this story, but just mushy stuff. Nothing graphic or very physical. (Sorry, I'll try harder next time)

There is no: Violence Sex Drinking

Authors Note: I will accept constructive comments and criticism at WarriorBard12@Hotmail.com or XenaGirl4Eva@yahoo.com.

Sorry this is so short; I wrote it during study hall and really made my teacher mad!

Scene: Xena and Gabrielle sitting around a campfire.

Xena's thoughts:

There is so much I want to tell her, but I don't have the words to say it. I love her so much but what would happen to our friendship if she doesn't share my feelings? What would she think of me then? It would be too much for me to bear if she left. What am I supposed to do? If I tell her how I feel, she might leave. I wouldn't be able to stand that. But if I don't tell her, I'm gonna go crazy! That's that. I have to tell her.

Gabrielle's thoughts:

I wish I knew how she felt about me. I know she loves me, but in a best friend kind of way. Could it be more than that? I can only hope. I love her more than anything and I want to tell her, but how? I can't just go up to her and say 'Xena, I want to be your lover.' What would she think? And I'm supposed to be the one who's good with words. I have to say something though. I can't stand this silence much longer.

"Xena, I have something I need to say to you" said Gabrielle.

"I gotta tell you something too." replied Xena.

"You can go first" said the very nervous bard.

"No, that's ok. You can'' said Xena.

"Ok, but this is kinda hard to say, so just shut up and listen, ok?" said Gabrielle.

"Yeah, just spit it out already." said the impatient warrior.

"Ok." sighed Gabrielle. Here goes nothing she thought. "I love you Xena. And I don't mean like best friends. I mean...." Gabrielle looked up and saw that Xena was looking at her strangely. "I understand if you're upset, but I've felt this way for a long time.

"NO! Of course I'm not upset!" cried Xena. "I...I love you too! I'm not sure how long I have, but I do love you. That's what I wanted to tell you."

They looked at each other for what seemed like forever. "Am I dreaming?" asked the bard.

"No, this is as real as anything." replied Xena, taking Gabrielle into her arms.
