FADE IN:

1 EXT. CITY - NIGHT

It's dark out. Smoke rises from the ground. Rubble is all over. The sound of gun fire is heard and people run by, shooting behind them. A legend appears, reading: 2001. We cut to a woman holding a large riffle gun. Her name is NATASHA. She has long, brown hair, wears a white tee-shirt that ends at her stomach and a baggy black leather jacket over it. Her black lose fitting leather pants are held up with a black belt. She wears black, knee high boots on her feet, black gloves without fingers on her hands and a blacker choker on her neck. There's a sword on her left hip and a scar on her left cheek. Natasha fires a shot and then ducks and rolls as one is shot back. A man slides in to join her where she has crouched. He is RYAN.

NATASHA
I told you to pull back, Ryan!

RYAN
(reloads gun)
I said I'd get you there and I never go back on my word.

NATASHA
Then let's get there.

Natasha stands up, fires her gun and then runs off, Ryan at her heels. They run fast.

NATASHA
Move it, Ryan! Angela, Jasmine, Kim and Ray are this way!

They turn a corner and VICKY joins them.

NATASHA
Finish it?

VICKY Was there any doubt?

They continue to run and turn another corner to find, ANGELA, JASMINE, KIM and RAY, standing there.

KIM
About time you got here.

ANGELA
We had our sector clear ten minutes ago.

NATASHA
You had the EASY sector.

JASMINE
Where's Siao Li?

NATASHA
(shakes head)
She didn't make it.

RAY
Kevin, Nicole, David, Tom and Emily, haven't reported in yet.

RYAN
They'll be here.

NATASHA
I can't wait much longer. Time's running out. Matthew and Rita told me to be there at 0400.

ANGELA
That's less than an hour from now.

NATASHA
I know. I'll give them five more minutes, but then I have to move.

KEVIN, NICOLE, DAVID, TOM and EMILY, come running in.

TOM
NEVER count my team out.

NATASHA
What took you so long?

EMILY
We grabbed a bite to eat. What do you think?

NICOLE
We hit some TROUBLE on the West side of Sector Two.

KEVIN
So are you ready to head out?

DAVID
If you don't move soon, they'll have their systems back up.

NATASHA
I'm always ready. Wish me luck.

ALL
Good-luck!

RYAN
(kisses Natasha quickly on the lips)
Go get them.

NATASHA
Let's hope this works.

Natasha runs off.

CUT TO:

2 INT. LAB - NIGHT

Machines are all over the wall, lights blinking. A machine in the corner holds a doorway of light on it. RITA and MATTHEW, work over the machines.

MATTHEW
What's keeping her? She has fifteen minutes!

RITA
I know Natasha, Matthew. She'll be blasting her way in here, right about...now.

The door burst open and Natasha falls inside, her gun gone.

NATASHA
You better talk quick! They really don't want me in here! (sees the doorway of light)
Whoa! What's that?

RITA
We don't have much time, Natasha. We must hurry.

Natasha joins Rita and Matthew at a machine. Matthew presses some buttons and a picture of a Xena statue appears.

MATTHEW
This is Xena, Warrior Princess.

Matthew presses some more buttons and the picture changes to that of a Xena and Gabrielle statues.

MATTHEW (CONT'D)
And this is her sidekick, Gabrielle, an Amazon queen.

NATASHA
What management are they fighting for?

RITA
They're not from this time. They're from ancient Greece.

NATASHA
You brought me here for a HISTORY lesson!

RITA
No. (points to doorway of light)
That is a time portal. Matthew and I have figured out that it was Xena, who caused THIS future. She was once evil, but then turned good. Unfortunately, she suffered a breakdown and went back to her old ways and took over the world.

NATASHA
What are you saying, exactly?

RITA
That you must go back in time and stop Xena.

NATASHA
What's in this for me?

MATTHEW
You would put a price on this!

RITA
Matthew, please.
(turns to face Natasha)
If you stop Xena, this time will change. We won't live in this terrible world.

NATASHA
You mean to tell me, that if I kill this, Xena, the wars will end?

MATTHEW
If you kill Xena, the wars will have never started.

NATASHA
(smiles)
Then let's change history.

CUT TO:

3 EXT. VILLAGE - DAY

Natasha steps out of the light doorway into a small village. The villagers are afraid.

NATASHA
Do any of you know where I can find Xena, Warrior Princess?

ACT ONE

4 INT. TAVERN - DAY

XENA and GABRIELLE are sitting at a table with a MAN.

MAN
Themistocles, has terrorized all the villages around here for months. We really need your help.

XENA
You don't have to ask, we'll be happy to help. Where can we can find, Themistocles?

MAN He has set up a large camp about a day's ride from here. You must be careful. He leads over fifty of the most ruthless fighters in Greece.

XENA
Thanks for the warning, we'll be fine. Come on, Gabrielle.

The two get up and leave.

CUT TO:

5 INT. THEMISTOCLES' TENT - DAY

A SOLIDER steps into the tent. THEMISTOCLES stands with his back to him.

THEMISTOCLES
What do you have to report?

SOLDIER
Sir, Xena is on her way here. She's moving on foot and should arrive within two days.

THEMISTOCLES
Xena? Well don't just stand there you moron! Send some men out. I want her stopped before she gets here. I want her body brought to me before sundown.

Themistocles turns to see the solider still there.

THEMISTOCLES
What are you waiting for? GO!

The solider salutes and hurries out.

THEMISTOCLES
(whispers)
Idiot.

CUT TO:

6 EXT. FOREST - DAY

Xena and Gabrielle walk along, Argo's reins in Xena's hand.

XENA
Be on the lookout, Gabrielle. Themistocles is one evil man. From what I've heard, he doesn't care who he kills, and he's killed a lot. He'll be sending trouble our way.

Xena speaks too soon and ten men jump out from behind bushes and trees.

GABRIELLE
You just HAD to say that, didn't you?

XENA
(draws sword)
Fight first, talk later.

Xena sends Argo off and the fight begins. Gabrielle takes on four and Xena fights the last six. They are seriously out-numbered. As they fight we cut to see Natasha watching the battle. Natasha pulls out a small machine, the size of a remote control. She presses some buttons and words appear on the small screen.

NATASHA
"The two were greatly out-numbered, but nothing could stop the Warrior Princess. She held up her deadly chakram..." (looks up)

Xena holds up her chakram and throws it, knocking out the remaining men.

NATASHA
(shutters)
That's just spooky.
(looks back at the screen)
"But more would soon follow."
(sighs)
I can't take her one on one. I'll have to earn her trust and then kill her when she's not expecting it. (draws sword)

Fifteen more men burst out around Xena and Gabrielle. The first ten get back to their feet. Natasha runs to join the battle. She flips into the circle, landing beside Xena.

NATASHA
Looks like you could use a hand.

XENA
I welcome the help, but who are you?

NATASHA
Like you told your friend, "Fight first, talk later."

The fight begins again. It is long, but no one is killed. In the end Xena, Gabrielle and Natasha win, driving the army away. Xena turns to face Natasha to find Natasha's blade at her throat.

NATASHA
A good fight, Xena.

Xena raises an eyebrow and Gabrielle stands behind her.

XENA
Why fight with me, to fight against me?

NATASHA
(smiles, twirls her sword and then puts it away)
I'm not here to fight you, Xena.

Natasha extends her hand and Xena returns the smile and clasps her arm.

NATASHA (CONT'D)
I'm Natasha.

XENA
Interesting name.

NATASHA
I'm not from around here. (looks at Gabrielle)
And you must be Gabrielle, bard and Amazon queen.

GABRIELLE
(looks surprised)
You know who I am.

NATASHA
Why wouldn't I?

GABRIELLE
Oh, no reason.

XENA
So, what do I owe the help?

NATASHA
You need a hand and I happen to have two. Actually, I hear that you're going against Themistocles. I have a score to settle with him and I can't do it alone. I think that we should work together.

XENA
What did he do to you?

NATASHA
I have family living here. He killed my little brother.

XENA
(hard look)
I see. Then Gabrielle and I INVITE you to join us.

CUT TO:

7 EXT. FOREST - DAY

Natasha and Gabrielle sit together on a log. Xena and Argo are not around.

GABRIELLE
(turns suddenly to face Natasha)
Now, seriously, how do you know about me?

NATASHA
Are you kidding? You fight along side Xena! Why wouldn't you be noticed?

GABRIELLE
BECAUSE, I fight alone side Xena. Sometimes it even overwhelms ME to see her in action.

NATASHA
Yeah, but you help her in every battle, and you record the event. Not to mention you're an Amazon QUEEN. How many of those are there running around?

GABRIELLE
Now that's true.

Xena rides in and dismounts Argo.

XENA
I've scouted ahead and I'd say that it would be best for us to travel East. There's less trees, making it harder for us to be ambushed.

NATASHA
(stands up)
Then lets head out.

XENA
No, the sun is setting. It's best we camp for the night.

GABRIELLE
I'll get some wood.

Xena looks over at Natasha.

XENA
You never did mention where you were from.

NATASHA
Oh, a small village in Italy. You've probably never heard of it.

CUT TO:

8 EXT. FOREST - NIGHT

Xena, Gabrielle and Natasha are all around the fire which has burned to mere embers. Xena and Gabrielle are asleep and Natasha watches them, while she quietly draws her sword.

NATASHA
(whispers)
Piece of cake.

Natasha creeps up to Xena and raises her sword over her head.

NATASHA
For the future. Good-night, Xena.

FADE OUT:

END OF ACT ONE

ACT TWO

FADE IN:

9 EXT. FOREST - NIGHT

Natasha's sword is raised over her head, about to come down on Xena's neck. Xena wakes up and shuts off the flow of blood to Natasha's brain. Natasha falls back, Xena is on her feet. Gabrielle wakes up and stands, staff in hand.

GABRIELLE
What's going on?

XENA
I was about to ask Natasha the same thing. I've just shut off the flow of blood to your brain. You'll die in thirty seconds unless you tell me what you were up to.

Blood is flowing out of Natasha's nose.

NATASHA
It's not what you think. I heard a noise in the bushes and so I got up, thinking it was one of Themistocles' men. Once I stood up I saw that it was a large snake, which was right by your head.

Xena releases Natasha and Natasha coughs, trying to regain the feeling in her body.

XENA
I'm sorry, but I had to be sure.

NATASHA
It's all right. I didn't want to wake you in fear that your movement would cause it to strike. Looks like you just scared it away.

XENA
Thank you for saving my life. I owe you one.

NATASHA
(rubs neck)
Hey, no problem.

XENA
It's just about dawn. We should head out, get an early start.

Xena goes to start packing up. Gabrielle helps Natasha up.

NATASHA
I've heard all about that move, but I didn't really believe it. Didn't seem possible. She do that often?

GABRIELLE
Yeah, but not often on friends.

NATASHA
It was my fault. Sneaking up on her with my sword raised over my head. If I was Xena, I would have done the same thing.

Gabrielle walks off and starts packing up.

NATASHA
(to herself)
The same thing.

CUT TO:

10 EXT. SLIGHTLY WOODED FIELD - DAY

The three women walk along. Xena and Gabrielle walk ahead with Argo, while Natasha trails behind.

GABRIELLE
What do you think about Natasha?

XENA
I don't know.
(looks back at Natasha)
Seems a little TOO good to be true.

They continue to talk as we cut to Natasha. She is once more holding her small machine.

NATASHA
(reads)
"...and Xena, with lighting quick movements, slapped her fingers against the poor slobs neck. 'I've just shut off the flow of blood to your brain. You'll be dead in thirty seconds, unless I release you.' "
(turns off machine)
How am I supposed to beat this woman? From what these scrolls say, Xena is unbeatable.
(growls)
I wish I had brought my gun.

Xena and Gabrielle stop. Natasha joins them.

NATASHA
What is it?

XENA
Ssh.

Xena points at a forest that runs along the field. Natasha squints her eyes and sees men moving about inside.

NATASHA
(whispers)
Ambush.

XENA
Not anymore. Let's double-back and ambush THEM.

NATASHA
(smiles)
I like how you think.

CUT TO:

11 EXT. FOREST - DAY

Xena, Gabrielle and Natasha sneak into the men's hiding place. Five men are looking out at the field, while the other twenty are gabbling on the forest floor, not paying attention.

NATASHA
Shall we take them?

XENA
(draws sword)
We shall.

Xena leaps, her war cry blaring. She lands among the men.

XENA
Looking for us?

The men get up and move to attack as Natasha and Gabrielle join Xena. Xena holds her own while Natasha gives Gabrielle a hand.

NATASHA
I trust you'll write about this later in, "The Xena Scrolls."

GABRIELLE
The Xena - what? What ARE you talking about?

NATASHA
Behind you!

Gabrielle turns and knocks out a guy who was running at her back. She and Natasha continue to fight. The battle rages on, one man falling after another. Natasha runs a man through, but before she can pull out her sword, another man cuts her arm. Natasha cries out in pain. Xena is suddenly at her side and punches the man who cut Natasha.

NATASHA
Thanks.

XENA
Now we're even.

The fight is soon over. Natasha clutches her arm and hisses in pain.

XENA
Here, let me take a look at that.

Xena removes Natasha's coat.

XENA
It's pretty deep. Gabrielle.

Gabrielle steps next to Xena.

XENA (CONT'D)
Get me a needle and some bandages from Argo's bag. I'm going to have to stitch this up.

NATASHA
You're a doctor too?

XENA
I have many skills.

Gabrielle comes back with what Xena requested. Xena starts to stitch up Natasha's wounds.

NATASHA
Everything I've heard about you is true.

XENA
Oh, and what have you heard?

NATASHA
I just mean that a lot has been said of your talents. Not one was exaggerated.

XENA
I'm almost done here. Once I finish, we should move on. I want to make it to Themistocles' camp before nightfall. After the sun has gone down, we'll sneak inside.

CUT TO:

12 INT. THEMISTOCLES' TENT - MIDDAY

Themistocles throws a cup at the Solider.

THEMISTOCLES
You mean to tell me that BOTH of my armies failed to stop ONE woman!

SOLIDER It's not just a woman sir, it's Xena. NO ONE has ever defeated her. She's also traveling with two other fighters.

THEMISTOCLES
That's twenty to THREE! Are those odds not good enough!? Put everyone on alert. She'll be here tonight, and this night will be her last.

FADE OUT:

END OF ACT TWO

ACT THREE

FADE IN:

13 EXT. THEMISTOCLES' CAMP - NIGHT

Themistocles' camp has five tents along each side. Themistocles' tent is the extra one in the middle back. The horses are all kept up front. A campfire is in the middle of the camp. Outside each tent is a barrel of water to drink and a barrel of oil for the lamps. No one is in sight, but the fire burns. Xena, Gabrielle and Natasha cautiously move into the camp, weapons drawn.

NATASHA
Looks like the lights are on, but nobody's home.

XENA
Looks can be deceiving.

GABRIELLE
Where are they all?

They move and stand by the fire.

XENA
I don't like this. Where are all the guards?

Suddenly mean burst out of all the tents, five men out of each. Themistocles steps out of his tent.

THEMISTOCLES
Well, it looks like the spider has caught THREE flies in his web. Hello Xena. It seems you've learned something today. NEVER cross me. Too bad you won't live long enough to put it into practice.

XENA
Give up now, Themistocles and I promise to spare your pathetic life.

THEMISTOCLES
(laughs loudly)
You are hardly in a position to be giving threats.

Xena raises a single eyebrow.

THEMISTOCLES (CONT'D)
You're a little too sure of yourself, Xena. You might be an excellent fighter, but even you can't beat all FIFTY of my men.

XENA
How can you be so sure?

THEMISTOCLES
ENOUGH! Kill all three of them!

The men close in from around all angles on the three. Xena runs forward to fight, Natasha to the left and Gabrielle to the right. We focus in on all fighting at different points. First Xena, then Natasha, then Gabrielle, then Xena and Natasha again. The second time on Gabrielle, she is fighting four men at once. She shoots her staff fast around and hits all four, however, while she does this, a fifth man comes and stabs Gabrielle in the back. Gabrielle cries out as she falls into the dirt.

XENA
GABRIELLE!!

Natasha punches a man out and looks to see what happened. We cut to Xena, to see that she is completely surrounded, unable to make it to Gabrielle's side. Xena's eyes are filled with hatred.

XENA
GABRIELLE!!

Xena fights, but is still unable to escape.

XENA
Get out of my way!!

Xena is so mad, her inhuman strength rises, her thoughts disappear. She lifts one of the oil barrels over her head.

XENA
GABRIELLE!!

Xena throws the oil barrel into the camp fire. It explodes and all the tents catch on fire. Men are hit and go down. Xena fights her way past any remaining men who dare to fight her. Finally she arrives at Gabrielle's side. Xena falls down next to Gabrielle and cradles her in her arms.

GABRIELLE
Xena, I -

Xena's eyes have calmed and are filled with tears for Gabrielle.

XENA
(holds hand over Gabrielle's mouth)
Shh. Don't say anything. Save your strength, Gabrielle. You'll be all right.

GABRIELLE
I'm dying, Xena.

XENA
Don't talk like that, you have to have faith. I'll fix you up and you'll be as good as new.

GABRIELLE
It hurts Xena.

XENA
I know it does, but you have to stay strong. Don't let this beat you, Gabrielle. You're the strongest person I've ever met.

Gabrielle holds out her hand and Xena takes it.

XENA (CONT'D)
You can't leave me. We have so much more to do together! I can't do it alone! So keep your eyes open and stay with me!

GABRIELLE
I can't.

XENA
You wouldn't give up on me, you wouldn't let me quit, I'm not about to let you. Take another breath, and another, and another, and you stay alive!

Gabrielle takes a deep breath.

XENA (CONT'D)
Good girl. Don't let them win.

Gabrielle coughs and blood pours out of her mouth.

XENA
Don't you dare die on me, Gabrielle! Not again! I won't lose you! I need you! I can't walk this road alone!

Gabrielle coughs once more and then lays still in Xena's arms.

XENA
No! NO!! Gabrielle! (Xena pulls Gabrielle close)

As Xena cradles Gabrielle, we cut to Natasha. Natasha moves towards Xena, taking out a few men who come her way. The camp is burning and most of the men have fled. Natasha stands behind Xena, bloody sword at her side.

XENA
(crying)
She's dead. How can I live without her? (suddenly grows very angry)
They'll all suffer. I will avenge her death. The world will pay for this.

NATASHA
It already has, Xena. That's why I can't allow it to happen again.

Natasha stabs Xena in the back and she falls over Gabrielle's body.

NATASHA
It's for the best. The world will thank me.

Natasha pulls out her machine once more. She presses some buttons and the time portal reappears. Natasha steps inside.

CUT TO:

14 INT. LAB - DAY

Natasha steps out of the time portal to the same building that she had left behind. Rita and Matthew walk over to her.

RITA
Natasha, where have you been? Ryan's funeral is in one hour.

NATASHA
Ryan's funeral? What are you talking about?

MATTHEW
(hugs her)
I know it hurts, Natasha. You loved him, but her died for a good cause. Not to mention that Siao Li wouldn't be here today if not for him.

NATASHA
I don't understand! I completed my mission!

RITA
What mission?

NATASHA
Don't give me that. You told me that if I killed Xena, this nightmare would end! Now it's worse then when I left! I want Ryan back!

RITA
How could you have killed the great Xena?

NATASHA
Great? You sent me back in time because you told me that she became evil after some sort of breakdown and took over the world.

MATTHEW
We don't know what you're saying.

RITA
If what you're saying is true, about you going back in time through our portal, and that you changed a past event, we wouldn't remember. Only the time traveler mat exist outside of time.

NATASHA
Then what went wrong?

MATTHEW
In THIS time, Xena was known as a great hero, who died along with her friend, Gabrielle, during a battle against the warlord, Themistocles. After her death, countless warlords went unchallenged and took over.

NATASHA
So we're doomed with and doomed without Xena?

RITA
If what you say is true about Xena's breakdown being the cause of turning her evil, then you must find a way to prevent it. To live in a free world, we must have a good Xena living in the past.

NATASHA
Gabrielle. We were in a battle and Gabrielle was killed. THAT'S when Xena lost it. If I save Gabrielle then I save this world AND Ryan. (grabs Rita by collar)
Get me back there, NOW!

FADE OUT:

END OF ACT THREE

ACT FOUR

FADE IN:

15 EXT. FIELD - MIDDAY

Xena, Gabrielle and a PAST NATASHA move along.

PAST NATASHA
Did you hear that?

XENA
What?

PAST NATASHA
Sounds like someone is following us.

Xena reaches for sword, but Past Natasha holds up her hand.

PAST NATASHA
No, you go on ahead. I'll take care of whoever it is.

CUT TO:

16 EXT. FOREST - MIDDAY

Past Natasha moves along, her sword raised.

PAST NATASHA
You might as well come out, whoever you are! I know you're here!

Natasha jumps out.

PAST NATASHA
What the - ?

NATASHA
Don't talk, just listen. I am you. I'm from the future.

PAST NATASHA
Are you crazy? I'M from the future.

NATASHA
I'm from a few hours in your future. Now listen to me. You CAN'T kill Xena.

PAST NATASHA
If you really were me, then you would know that I have no choice.

NATASHA
There's ALWAYS a choice. If you kill Xena, Ryan dies. I KNOW you don't want that.

PAST NATASHA
This is a trick. You're a hologram, created by another squad.

NATASHA
No, I'm not! I CAN'T let you kill, Xena.

PAST NATASHA
And I can't let you stop me.

The two sword fight, Natasha winning in the end, Past Natasha now dead.

CUT TO:

17 EXT. THEMISTOCLES' CAMP - NIGHT

We come in halfway into the conversation between Xena and Themistocles. Themistocles' men are all around.

XENA
Give up now, Themistocles and I promise to spare your pathetic life.

THEMISTOCLES
(laughs loudly)
You are hardly in a position to be giving threats.

Xena raises a single eyebrow.

THEMISTOCLES (CONT'D)
You're a little too sure of yourself, Xena. You might be an excellent fighter, but even you can't beat all FIFTY of my men.

XENA
How can you be so sure?

THEMISTOCLES
ENOUGH! Kill all three of them!

NATASHA
NOW!

From around the camp, arrows fly, hitting Themistocles' men. Then from out of the bushes come, Emily, Angela, Jasmine, Kim, Ray, Tom, Nicole, David, Kevin, SIAO LI and Vicky.

SIAL LI
Let's get them!

Natasha's squad jump into the battle, full swing. Xena's war cry shoots from her lips as she attacks. Natasha fights her way to join Gabrielle. We watch all of the people fighting and then move to see Gabrielle knocking out the four men as the fifth comes up behind her. Suddenly, he gets a dagger in the chest. Gabrielle looks about to see Natasha, who salutes her.

CUT TO:

18 EXT. THEMISTOCLES' CAMP - MORNING

All of Themistocles' men have either been killed our have fled. Xena and Natasha clasp arms.

XENA
Thanks for all the help. You never told me about your friends.

NATASHA
Xena, Gabrielle, this is, Emily, Angela, Jasmine, Kim, Ray, Tom, Nicole, David, Kevin, Siao Li and Vicky.

Xena gives Natasha a questioning look.

NATASHA
They're not from around here either.

XENA
Well, thanks to all of you.

They all nod. Gabrielle steps up to Natasha.

GABRIELLE
Thank you, for saving my life.

NATASHA
Believe me, Gabrielle, after all you've done, it's the least I could do.

GABRIELLE
What do you mean?

NATASHA
(to Gabrielle)
YOU made this new Xena and YOU keep her this way. Xena is the warrior, but you're the REAL hero. Sometimes, we never know what difference in the world we make, but those ahead of us do know the power of one woman's worth. (to Xena)
It was an honor to meet you, Xena.

XENA
I hope we cross paths again.

NATASHA
You never know. In this crazy world, ANYTHING can happen.

Natasha and her squad walk off.

GABRIELLE
(to Xena)
Do you think we'll ever see her again?

XENA
Like she said, "Anything can happen."

They turn and head the other way.

CUT TO:

19 INT. NATASHA'S HOUSE - DAY

Natasha wears normal clothes, a tee-shirt and jeans. The scar on her left cheek is gone. She walks down the hallway and into the kitchen. Ryan is at the table, reading a newspaper.

NATASHA
(kisses him)
Good morning, honey.

RYAN
Good morning, dear.

Two small children, a 5-year-old boy and an 8-year-old GIRL race in and out of the room, the Girl chasing the boy.

NATASHA
What have I said about running in the house?

GIRL
But mom, I'm Xena and Billy is a bad warlord. I have to teach him some manners.

NATASHA
(smiles)
Then carry on, Warrior Princess.

RYAN
How did you come up with those stories about that woman?

NATASHA
It wasn't me. It was a very wise and important bard, who the world owes its life.

RYAN
What?

NATASHA
Nothing. Drink your coffee. (looks out the window and whispers)
